On a bus journey I sat next to two young men. Another guy, slightly older, joined them. He sat opposite me. I closed my eyes.
The man in front of me was talking to his friends about a dried food product he had just bought which he believed was meant to be healthy. He said the ingredients said it includes dried maggots. Apparently, he got it from a shop that specialises in food for fishes.
I opened my eyes and asked him why he had bought something with dried maggots. He said he believed he'd picked up the wrong product. His friends found it very amusing. After a while, one asked me if I would go out with his friend. I thought he was joking so I said I was probably too old for him. He asked me how old I was and I told him. It turned out his friend was 35 so was closer to my age. His friend said he was interested in exchanging numbers and taking me out. Talk about being put on the spot! I thanked him but declined.
What I liked about the encounter was his two friends, who were Irish, didn't let colour get in the way; they thought I looked like a "good woman" that would be perfect for their friend, who was white and English. Funnily enough the next day while I was watching an episode of StarTrek , I spotted an actor that was the spitting image of the man on the bus.
The good news is it doesn't matter whether I date the guy on the bus or not, we are already one in Love.
